Eric is a Partner at Burnham Law based out of the Denver Tech Center office. A graduate of Notre Dame, he earned both a master’s degree in Taxation and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and has been licensed in Colorado for 19 years. Eric focuses on family law litigation and is a specialist in handling cases involving complex financial structures for high net worth individuals. He has specific expertise in the division of retirement assets, a complex and poorly understood area of the law. Having worked on more than 1,000 QDRO’s, Eric is recognized as an authority in this area and is a frequent presenter on the topic.

Eric is an expert in military family law with experience dividing military pensions and/or allocating payments under the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) in divorce cases. He has helped many families navigate jurisdictional headaches and work out child custody and parenting plans when one or both parents are in active duty service.

In 2021, Eric co-authored Military Divorce in Colorado: Colorado’s Rules for Dividing Military Retirement Pensions & Property in a Divorce.

On a personal note, Eric has traveled the world extensively, speaks multiple languages, and enjoys the great outdoors with his children.
