James “Jim” Woulfe is a domestic relations associate based out of the Colorado Springs office.  He graduated from the Metropolitan State College of Denver (now Metropolitan State University of Denver) as a double major in Political Science and Modern Languages (Spanish).  After college, Jim earned his Juris Doctor at Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was able to gain practical experience through Northeastern’s unique “co-op” program where law students complete four full-time, three-month-long internships while earning their law degree.  Jim utilized this opportunity to gain experience as a student law clerk for a Federal Magistrate Judge in San Juan, Puerto Rico; a union-side labor and employment law firm in Oakland, California; the Office of the Regional Solicitor for the U.S. Department of the Interior in Denver, Colorado; and an immigration solo practitioner, also in Denver.  Jim later furthered his legal education by earning a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Environmental and Natural Resources Law and Policy from the University of Denver’s Sturm School of Law.

Born on the Western Slope and raised in Leadville, Colorado, Jim has deep roots in the Rocky Mountains and is a direct descendant of the original Spanish settlers of Northern New Mexico.  Prior to his legal career, Jim learned the value of hard work on Colorado’s construction sites, in its greasy kitchens, and in cold, early morning, behind-the-scenes ski area operations.  With a background in criminal defense and being no stranger to adversity, Jim combines his practical and educational knowledge and a strong dose of empathy to zealously assist his clients in navigating the stormy waters of family disputes and domestic relations litigation.

When not at the office or planning his next international adventure, Jim enjoys snowskiing, leisurely mountain hikes and drives, live music, Colorado sports, and deep dives into his favorite films and tv shows.
