James graduated from the University of Denver College of Law and was admitted to practice law in Colorado in 2004. James spent his first year as a licensed attorney studying for his Master of Laws in Estate, Gift and Transfer Tax at the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida.
After completing his Master of Laws (LL.M,), James moved back to Colorado to practice as an estate planning and probate attorney. After two years of practice in Colorado focusing primarily in the areas of estate planning and probate he moved back to Florida. James continued his practice and expanded his areas of expertise to include criminal defense, real estate, commercial litigation, probate litigation, contested guardianship and conservatorship, and Medicaid planning.
Throughout his legal career, James has worked at all different types and size firms including at Blank Rome, LLP as lead counsel during the foreclosure crisis in Florida. James ended his practice in Florida with a boutique real estate law firm where he gained valuable experience as a commercial litigator and probate matters. In addition, James provided estate planning strategies for individuals, married couples and small family-owned businesses.
After practicing in Florida for 12 years, James moved back to Colorado and began his practice in the areas of probate litigation, guardianship/conservatorship, Trust Administration, Medicaid planning and estate planning.
James joins Burnham Law, P.C. as an Associate and will continue to practice primarily in the area of probate litigation which includes contested common law marriage claims, will contests, elective share claims, breach of fiduciary duty, adjudication of intestacy, equitable adoption claims, contested and uncontested guardianship and conservatorship. Additionally, James will be offering estate planning strategies and succession planning for individuals, married couples and small family-owned businesses.
As a trial lawyer James has gained valuable experience, knowledge and skill which he applies to his practice to resolve complex legal issues.
