Heidi is a Partner at Burnham Law based out of the Fort Collins office. She litigates domestic relations cases and is often called upon for complex or high conflict dissolutions and post-decree matters. Subscribing to the theory that the only constant in life is change, Heidi blends a background in business, legal knowledge, and compassion for the difficult circumstances facing her clients. As a Consilium informed practictioner, she works to help her clients not only survive the current legal challenge, but to thrive in their new family structure.

Heidi started her practice in Texas, in a general civil practice. She has been the first chair litigator in many jury and non-jury trials in both Texas and Colorado, handling divorces, custody matters, dependency and neglect cases, and business disputes, among others. When Heidi returned home to Colorado in 2014, she began to focus her legal career toward family law and related areas. Joining Burnham Law in 2017 allowed her to further develop that focus. She is experienced in restrictions, modifications, and initial questions of parenting time, child support, and decision making, relocation with children, adoption, characterization and division of marital assets, and dependency and neglect cases. In addition, she provides estate planning with gentle guidance for considering a client’s own mortality.

Believing in giving back to her community, Heidi has served as the President of the Larimer County Women’s Bar, and the Secretary and Treasurer of the Larimer County Bar Association. She is currently serving as the Vice President of the Larimer County Bar Association, and the chairperson for Larimer County’s National Adoption Day celebration.

When not working, Heidi enjoys playing American style Mahjong, working on her yard or raised garden beds, and taking in live theater.
