Authorities from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported that all three individuals in the car were ejected during the incident, with two of them tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger identified by family members as Tavion Daniels, a student at Rangeview High School in Aurora, was one of the passengers who succumbed to the crash. Tavion had been returning home to Aurora after attending a barbecue with his football team at the Highlands Ranch park.
According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle was traveling at a high speed when the driver lost control, resulting in the car going over an embankment and colliding with a tree. Tavion was a passenger in the vehicle, and his father mentioned that he was supposed to join his grandfather the following morning to attend car shows.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash and at the time of this article, the identity of the second victim has yet to be released.
