2023, has resulted in the loss of two lives. Arapahoe County deputies are currently investigating
the incident.
According to a statement shared on Twitter by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the
collision occurred on East Dry Creek Road, between Yosemite Street and South Alton Way,
when a driver crashed into a building’s parking garage. The vehicle caught fire immediately
following the impact. Witnesses at the scene informed authorities that two drivers were engaged
in a high-speed race on eastbound Dry Creek prior to the accident. Traffic investigators have
estimated that the car involved in the crash was traveling at a speed exceeding 100 miles per
hour.
Tragically, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger sustained
critical injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to those injuries.
In response to the incident, a section of East Dry Creek Road was temporarily closed off to
facilitate the investigation conducted by the sheriff’s deputies.
