The collision occurred on June 1, 2023, in the 7700 block of Highway 2, situated just west of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.

The Commerce City Police Department has reported that the unfortunate incident took place when a truck was navigating through the parking lot area and collided with the child.
