Authorities have reported a serious car crash on U.S. Highway 40 between Routt County Road 44 and County Road 33A near Steamboat Springs. On February 6, 2023, a Subaru Legacy occupied by two people was heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 40 when it veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado. Injuries were reported, and U.S. Highway 40 was partially closed due to the crash.
While Colorado is full of scenic mountainous highways, these roadways can be dangerous when drivers are not operating their vehicles with full attention. Many of Colorado’s mountain highways are narrow, dark, and have sudden turns.
