Tragedy struck Salida, Colorado when a two-vehicle crash resulted in the deaths of Jeffery “Mo” Shacklett (45) and his son Jeffrey “Buck” Shacklett (16). Colorado State Patrol has reported that the crash occurred on March 11, 2023, in Saguache County when a Jeep traveling northbound on Highway 17 slid across the center line into southbound traffic. At milepost 110.7 the Jeep struck the Pontiac containing Shacklett and his son. Four passengers in the Jeep were also injured and taken to a nearby hospital in Alamosa, Colorado.
