Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Two Lives and Injures Two Others in Sterling, Colorado

[STERLING, COLORADO] – Tragedy struck in the early morning hours of July 4, 2023, as a single-vehicle crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left two others injured, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP). The incident occurred in Sterling, Colorado, on Highway 61 at milepost 61 shortly before 6 a.m. and involved a Chevy Silverado.

Early reports state that the pickup was traveling north on the highway when it veered into the southbound lanes. The driver then lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the east side of the road. Ultimately, the pickup rolled over and came to a halt on its top in a nearby field.

Behind the wheel of the Silverado was an 18-year-old male from Rio Grande City, Texas, who sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash. Tragically, two male passengers did not survive the accident. The victims were identified as a 49-year-old and a 26-year-old, both pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, another 18-year-old male passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash and was also transported to a hospital.
