[ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO] An arrest has been made in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that occurred near an elementary school

[ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO] – In a significant development, an arrest has been made in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that occurred near an elementary school back in April, according to a statement made by the victim’s family on Thursday.

The victim, 16-year-old Karalynn Kincaid, was fatally struck while crossing the intersection of East 76th Avenue and Leyden Lane in unincorporated Adams County, near Commerce City. The incident took place around 7:45 p.m. on April 11, 2023, just outside Monaco Elementary School. The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that the driver of a red Dodge Magnum fled the scene without stopping. Fortunately, approximately a week later, CSP announced that they had located the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

Providing an update, a spokesperson for the Colorado State Patrol revealed that Brandon Monroe had voluntarily surrendered himself on Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued. Court records indicate that Monroe is facing multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident involving death, vehicular homicide-DUI, and vehicular homicide-reckless driving. As of now, he is being held at the Adams County jail, with bail set at $100,000.

This arrest brings hope for justice to the grieving family and the local community as they seek closure and accountability for the tragic loss of a promising young life. The legal proceedings will now ensue as authorities work diligently to bring justice in this heart-wrenching hit-and-run case.
