A single-car crash in Colorado Springs has resulted in the death of the driver and serious injuries to the passenger. At around 12:15 a.m. on April 30, 2023, the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the scene of the accident at South Carefree and Windward Way.
Police officers believe that the car was traveling westbound on South Carefree at a high speed. The driver lost control of the car, causing it to collide with a tree. The driver was found dead at the scene, while rescuers had to extract the passenger from the vehicle before transporting them to a nearby hospital. According to reports, the passenger suffered severe injuries and was in critical condition when taken to the hospital. Police have yet to identify the driver or the passenger involved in the crash.
At the time of the accident, the car was significantly damaged and its position was on its side. The Colorado Springs Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
