The Mead Police Department has reported that an 18-year-old man was injured in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on December 21, 2022. The crash happened on Colo. 66 at Weld County Road 3, just east of Longmont. Witnesses report that traffic on westbound Colo. 66 was backed up due to a FedEx truck waiting to make a left turn when a young man driving a sedan approached the line of cars, tried to swerve, and lost control of his car. The sedan then struck another car in the line and proceeded into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Jeep heading eastbound.
